Around the world, journalists and civil society activists are finding their right to freedom of expression threatened. They face fines, imprisonment – or worse. This session will introduce participants to the basic protections for freedom of expression according to international law. By the end of the session, participants will be able to engage on freedom of expression issues at a basic level, and review and comment on relevant legal provisions.
