The rights to peaceful assembly and association are guaranteed to everyone without distinction. Yet governments often deny these rights to marginalized groups, including persons with disabilities, LGBTI people, ethnic minorities, and indigenous peoples. This session will explore how legislation and practices discriminate against such groups and highlight successful efforts to overcome these challenges. Participants will also help develop a rapid assessment tool to help the international community and in-country experts identify discriminatory legislation.
