4A: Freedom of Assembly: The Tough Questions
Limited Capacity seats available

In recent years, a growing wave of protests, emerging social movements, and other public assemblies has been countered by law enforcement and regulatory measures that seek to restrict space for assemblies. This session will focus on difficult regulatory questions regarding assemblies. Among other issues, participants will consider the implications of protests that involve the privatization of public space; the construction of tents and other settlements that disrupt urban life for extended time periods; and the use of hate speech.
